Living and Working
Module I is the initial workshop of the MBArch Contemporary Project. It is focused around a realistic housing model designed for you, architects, who opt to live and work collectively. While the general perception in the previous century idealized industrial lofts as the perfect spaces for artists, we will take a different approach by re-programming, adding or superposing in the existing spaces detected in the urban tissue of Les Corts in Barcelona, the district in which the ETSAB School is placed.
We specifically selected this architectural program to highlight the growing integration of artistic production into domestic settings and to illustrate that work activities can no longer be confined solely to traditional “studios” or workplaces. Furthermore, through this project, we aim to challenge the conventional notion of a “house” as a distinct sphere separate from the realm of production.
