The Rules of Urban Form

This course raises the discussion of the recent evolution of urban regulations instruments, especially those more specific of the field of urban planning and urban project.

The sessions are divided into two clearly differentiated blocks: In the first, referring to the evolution of urban regulations, it is intended to recognize, in the emergence and consolidation of these instruments in different cities and historical periods (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, London, New York, Paris), many of the contents and concerns of the current regulations. The second block aims to deepen in the analysis of different options that these instruments assume today in reading and intervening in these same cities.

In different sessions we will analyse the structure and content of these instruments, the elements that are attended and the used techniques, in order to train in their application from their more detailed knowledge.
